Overview
The Senior Engineering Operations Analyst plays a critical role in elevating the efficiency, productivity, and operational maturity of the Engineering organization. This individual contributor partners closely with engineering leads, product teams, and cross‑functional stakeholders to analyze performance, uncover friction points, and drive data-informed improvements across workflows, tooling, and processes.
This role is ideal for someone who is curious, analytical, articulate, and passionate about helping software engineering teams operate at their best.
The ideal candidate will have experience working in Engineering Operations and working on improving Engineering efficiency in a software development environment. They would also ideally be an experienced data analyst.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Responsible for measurement and improvement of Engineering efficiency
- Define what metrics and data we need to report on to give the CTO and other leaders what they need to measure and improve team efficiency
- Provide the CTO and senior leadership team with regular summaries of Engineering efficiency
- Recommend specific actions to improve efficiency
- Ensure maintenance of good data hygiene for accurate reporting
- Help Engineering managers understand the output of reports to measure Engineering efficiency and how they can use that information to improve their team’s effectiveness
- Provide support to Engineering managers in following organizational processes
- Optimize Engineering systems and tools for scalability, cost-efficiency, performance, and ease of use
- Provide governance and process optimization of scalable workflows and systems use
- Identify gaps in process lifecycles and propose recommended solutions to drive consistency in process execution
- Assist the Senior Leadership team with special projects and data analysis
- Assist other members of the Engineering Operations team with carrying out team functions
Skills Required
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or related field
- 10+ years of experience in a Software Engineering setting, or in Software Engineering roles, and 3+ years of experience working in Engineering Operations or with data analysis
- Knowledge of agile development methodologies such as Scrum, Kanban, etc.
- Knowledge of Git workflows
- Strong experience analyzing systems and data and presenting it to different audiences including executives
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills; ability to partner with cross-functional teams (IT, Product, Engineering, Security, Product, Quality, DevOps, Architecture, UX, Program Management, etc.)
Desired Skills and Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in business, computer science, engineering, or related field
- Experience using Liner B or Jellyfish
- Experience leveraging AI for data analysis
- Ability to build and maintain reports using tools such as Excel, Power BI, Tableau, etc.
