Overview
The Communications Strategist sits at the intersection of content, communications, and social media. This role is responsible for shaping and executing symplr’s content strategy to increase brand awareness, support integrated campaigns, and drive demand.
The ideal candidate is a strong, versatile writer and strategic storyteller who can translate complex healthcare and technology topics into clear, compelling content across owned and earned channels. This individual partners closely with the PR agency, social media, SEO/AEO specialists, and leaders across the organization to identify story opportunities, develop high-impact content, and ensure consistency across all communications.
This role requires a self-starter with executive presence, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to operate with speed and precision in a fast-paced environment.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Lead content strategy and planning
Own the editorial calendar, identifying story opportunities and developing content that supports business priorities, builds awareness, and strengthens brand reputation. - Create high-impact content across channels
Write, edit, and proofread a wide range of materials, including blogs, media content, executive bylines, case studies, customer stories, newsletters, social content, and long-form assets (eBooks, reports). - Support earned media and PR efforts
Partner with the PR agency to develop press releases, executive thought leadership, award and speaking submissions. - Optimize content for search and performance
Ensure all content aligns with SEO/AEO best practices, leveraging keywords and insights to improve visibility, engagement, and conversion. - Collaborate cross-functionally
Work closely with social media, product marketing, digital, design, and SEO teams to align communications with campaigns and business goals. - Amplify and extend content reach
Partner with social media to maximize distribution and performance of owned and earned assets. - Maintain brand consistency and quality
Serve as a steward of the symplr brand, ensuring quality, consistent messaging, voice, and tone across all channels while mitigating reputational risk. - Leverage insights to inform strategy
Conduct market research, keyword analysis, and competitive audits; use performance data to continuously refine content strategy and messaging.
Skills Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, English, or related field
- 5+ years of experience in content, communications, or related field
- Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills across formats and audiences
- Proven ability to develop content that supports business goals and drives engagement
- Experience supporting PR and external communications initiatives
- Strong understanding of SEO and AEO principles; comfortable using AI tools to enhance content creation and performance
- Ability to translate complex healthcare and technology topics into clear, compelling narratives
- Data-driven mindset with the ability to analyze content performance and optimize accordingly
- Experience collaborating across teams and with external partners
- Executive presence and ability to write for senior leaders
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities and tight deadlines
- Strong attention to detail, sound judgment, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Experience in B2B environments
- Background in healthcare, health technology, or other regulated industries
- Familiarity with content, social, AI, and analytics tools (e.g., Oktopost, WordPress, SEO platforms, Google Analytics)
