Terran Orbital is seeking a motivated Staff Electrical Engineer to join our growing team. Reporting to the Integrated Product Team Lead, the Staff Electrical Engineer, will work within a multidisciplinary team to develop and support the design, prototype, qualification and sustainment of innovative components and modules for various spacecraft.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and development of reaction wheel systems, focusing on power electronics and motor control.
  • Utilize the full spectrum of design, analysis, test, and manufacturing tools to assess electrical components and create PCBA sub-assemblies.
  • Design and optimize power electronics circuits, including DC-DC converters, motor drivers, and power management systems.
  • Conduct simulations and analyses to validate design performance and reliability.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including mechanical engineers, software developers, and system engineers, to ensure seamless integration of reaction wheel systems.
  • Perform hands-on testing, debugging, and validation of prototypes and final products.
  • Prepare detailed technical documentation, including design specifications, test plans, and reports.
  • Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies to drive innovation in reaction wheel development.
  • Generate technical content in support of internal and external design reviews
  • Provide input on design timelines and cost estimates for new programs and initiatives
  • Review design analyses, models, drawings, and associated component and module design documentation for workmanship and accuracy
  • Manage simultaneous project tasks ensuring that design deliverables, estimated spend and delivery milestones are met.
  • Provide technical guidance and direction to the project team
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to Jr. Engineers on Industry Best Practices and Methods
  • Contribute to Process Development and Continuous Improvement
  • Perform other duties as assigned
