Terran Orbital is seeking a Business Development Intern to join our dynamic team. Reporting to the SVP, Business Development, the Business Development Intern will focus on gathering market intelligence and conducting a comprehensive competitive analysis of the small satellite (smallsat) industry. This project will encompass both domestic and international competitors, providing a holistic view of the evolving market and business landscape.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conduct in-depth market research and competitive analysis of the small satellite (smallsat) industry, covering both domestic and international players.
  • Profile leading companies, startups, and key competitors, analyzing market segments, strategic positioning, and value chain roles.
  • Map competitors by customer type (government, commercial, academic, defense) and mission/application (Earth observation, communications, IoT, scientific research).
  • Identify emerging trends, disruptive technologies, and partnership opportunities within the smallsat sector.
  • Compile and synthesize data into structured formats such as competitor matrices, SWOT analyses, and strategic insight reports.
  • Develop a comprehensive report and presentation summarizing findings and actionable recommendations for the Business Development team.
  • Support additional research and analysis tasks as needed to inform BD capture strategy.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Able to work full time, onsite in Irvine, CA for 8 – 12 weeks starting in June 2026 (no relocation stipend, must be local).
  • Strong research, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize and synthesize complex data into clear, actionable insights.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint; familiarity with data visualization tools is a plus.
  • Interest in the space industry and emerging technologies.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
  • U.S. Person or lawful permanent resident to comply with U.S. government space technology export regulations.

Salary Range

  • Freshman/Sophomore - $20 per hour
  • Junior - $22.50 per hour
  • Senior/Graduate - $25 per hour

Your actual level and base salary will be determined case-by-case and may vary based on the job-related qualification, knowledge, skills, education, and experience. Physical Demands

An employee must meet the physical demands described to perform the essential functions of this job successfully. In performing the duties of this job, the employee is routinely required to sit or stand for long durations of time, in addition to bending, reaching, and walking. This would require the ability to lift or move objects up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift or move objects up to 25 pounds. This position is generally sedentary, with substantial computer usage.

Work Environment

The job operates in a professional office environment but in a manufacturing company. This job routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and scanners.
