Job brief:

As an Aviation Integration Software Engineer at the Weather Company, you will directly contribute to the success of our aviation applications. These applications are used by dispatchers and pilots worldwide to help them execute safe and efficient flights by combining real-time weather and aviation data into rich, interactive presentations. You will work closely with data providers and customers to integrate their data into our next generation of aviation applications using a variety of technologies such as messaging systems, databases, and REST APIs to provide this data into our application suite.

The impact you'll make:

  • Design and implement our next-generation aviation data integration system
  • Write clean, efficient, and scalable code using key programming languages.
  • Collaborate with customer representatives as well as internal SMEs to understand data requirements and integration technologies
  • Debug and troubleshoot issues, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including design documents, API specifications, and user guides.
  • Stay updated with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in software development.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What you've accomplished:

  • 3+ years of experience in Software Development in fast paced environment
  • Proficiency in one or more programming languages such as GoLang, C#, Python, or a similar backend language
  • Experience with SQL and NoSQL (MongoDB) database systems
  • Experience with messaging systems such as Kafka or RabbitMQ
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently or in a team.
  • Understanding of software development methodologies (e.g., Agile, Scrum) and best practices.
  • Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git, SVN) and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written.

Nice to have

  • Airline Flight Operations IT experience - if you’ve ever heard of ARINC 633, we are looking for you!
  • Experience developing products with electronic data interchange (EDI).
  • Experience with DevOps practices.
  • Knowledge of containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) and serverless computing.
  • Experience in performance optimization, profiling, and tuning of software applications.
