We are looking for a Looker/Tableau/PowerBI Engineer to join our growing Analytics Application Engineering team. In this role, you will play a crucial role in implementing, improving, and maintaining Waystar’s Looker environment and will need to become our in-house Looker expert. This includes partnering and consulting with business teams to provide guidance and assistance in creating and streamlining Looker reports. Our ideal candidate is a self-starter with a motivation to influence the future of our Analytics platform through dynamic visualization and reporting.


  • Build LookML data models on top of consumption layer (Snowflake).

  • Build and standardize Dashboards, Looks, and Explores for different use cases including internal/external and accounts-based permissions.

  • Support reporting infrastructure and deployment pipeline. (Looker, git, etc.)

  • Maintain and augment scalable data models, reporting, and dashboards.

  • Bring visibility and control to all teams by developing and executing database queries, conducting analyses, creating visualizations, and reports.

  • Build and standardize actionable dashboards and reporting.

  • Troubleshoot / resolve errors in existing data models and explores.

  • Train and mentor engineering team members on Looker components.


  • 3+ years of hands-on, Looker/Tableau/PowerBI experience.

  • 3+ years of experience writing data models (preferably LookML).

  • 3+ years of experience in data engineering, data science, or a related field.

  • 3+ years of experience using programming languages to build data pipelines.

  • 3+ years of experience working with data warehouses and relational databases, ideally Snowflake and SQL.

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Adept at queries, report writing and presenting findings.

  • Experience working in an Agile/Scrum development process.

  • Ability to travel on an occasional basis for in-person collaboration, engagement, and team building.
