About the role
Reporting to the Director, Talent Development, the Talent Development Manager will play a key role in strengthening Betterment’s high-performance culture by designing and delivering thoughtful, scalable learning experiences. You’ll partner closely with leaders across the business to identify development needs, build right-fit solutions, and bring programs to life with strong project and program management. This role is based out of our NYC office. Below we've reflected the base salary range we would offer for this position. Actual salaries may vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of Betterment’s total compensation package for employees.
- New York City: $110,000-$120,000

This job may also be eligible for variable compensation in the form of a company incentive bonus. For jobs based out of our NYC HQ, we require in office attendance Monday through Thursday, weekly.
A day in the life
- Program Management: Manage multiple learning initiatives end-to-end, including logistics, layered communications, enrollment and attendance tracking, and feedback mechanisms. Oversee external vendors to ensure high-quality delivery, strong learner experiences, and alignment with program goals.
- Design and Deliver Learning Solutions: Consult with managers to uncover skills and knowledge gaps to design training that strengthens team effectiveness, giving and receiving feedback, build core business skills, and support measurable business outcomes. Ideal design should highlight frameworks, engaging activities, and creative materials. Deliver remote, hybrid or in person programs
- Manage the annual intern onboarding program: Partner with HRBPs and department managers to manage the onboarding training during the summer intern program. Curate and provide oversight for the team-building components of the program. Participate in the Intern Lead selection process, assist in organizing the projects for graduation and provide feedback for final offers.
- Collaboration and Partnership: Work alongside stakeholders to assess learning needs, develop content, and evaluate the effectiveness of programs. Manage external vendors and consultants to deliver high-quality learning solutions.
- Measurement & Evaluation: Evaluate the success of talent development programs using metrics and feedback. Leverage data to amend content, vendor effectiveness and post training impact.
- Learning Systems and Tools: Stay current on industry trends, tools that streamline logistics. Leverage AI to streamline Talent Development processes. Demonstrate a comfort level with managing multiple technologies for communications, logistics, planning and executing on tasks
- Support Betterment’s ERG Program: Partner with ERG leaders and champions and team members to be sure they are equipped to execute their strategies. Support events as needed and provide budget oversight. Lead the annual election cycle, and be creative with educational & celebratory idea generation.
What we’re looking for
- 5+ years in talent development, preferably in a fast-growing organization
- Demonstrated success in building relationships, leading cross functional teams, influencing stakeholders to drive change, performance and best-fit solutionsStrong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to articulate strategic visions and detailed plans
- Proficient with G-suite, Learning Management Systems, and comfortable learning new technology Ability to see the big picture and connect dots across the organization
- Highly organized with attention to detail, with a focus on efficient and effective processes. Event planning skills are a plus

What happens next

In the interview process, we’ll look to learn more about your skills, experiences, capabilities, and motivators. Many of our questions will be aimed at understanding how you might operate here at Betterment. Depending on the role, we may ask you to complete a case study exercise or technical assessments, as we want to collect a robust set of data points to better inform our decisions.
On average, it takes us around 3-5 weeks to make a hiring decision, depending on your availability and sense of urgency. As a best practice, we aim to interview at least 2-3 final round candidates before making a hiring decision. Please note that, as we usually receive an overwhelming number of applications for open positions, we’re unable to offer individual feedback during the interview process.
