Senior Principal Software Engineer

As a Senior Principal Engineer, you will be responsible for developing sophisticated systems and software based on the customer’s business goals, needs and general business environment. You will work with product management, other engineering teams, customer success and support on developing cutting edge new product features and enhancements across various areas of Boomi offerings.

You will:

• Model Boomi’s values in your role as a technical leader, as we would expect our engineers to exhibit them

• Drive technical presence internally through activities such as mentorship, knowledge transfer, hackathons, patent applications, and lunch-and-learns

• Drive technical presence externally through activities such as meetups, conferences, presentations, and blogs

• These responsibilities will be operationalized through engagements in two contexts:

• Boomi-architecture first team: the collective body of platform architects and domain architects across R&D where the focus is on prioritizing the engineering needs of the organization

• Domain-architecture first team: the collective body of domain architects within the domain where the focus is on prioritizing the needs of the domain and the teams within the domain

• Guide technical strategy with Platform and Domain Architects by keeping watch on new trends, incubating proofs-of-concept, and putting forth initiative proposals and plans to executives

• Be an authoritative point of contact for the domain’s technical relationships with the broader organization by surfacing dependencies, communicating new capabilities, and identifying common gaps and needs that are relevant to domain and organizational initiatives and goals

• Ensure a consistent intake pipeline for teams in the domain through initiative-level discovery and planning with product stakeholders

• Work with teams to surface non-functional requirements, such as security, scalability, and compliance

Essential Requirements

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to earn trust of the team and lead by example

• Ability to learn new tools, languages, and operating systems with some training and on-the-job experience

• Experience in software development, including the use of some IDE with a solid understanding of object-oriented design concepts for delivering and maintaining a software product

• Experience with Java, source control systems, continuous integration tools

• Experience with agile development practices and collaboration tools, such as JIRA and Confluence

• Experience with Web Services technologies including REST, SOAP, and WSDL

• Experience with highly scalable, high throughput web applications and backend systems

• Experience using AWS technologies such as Cloudformation, AWS CLI, API Gateway, Lambda, S3, ECS, EKS, and EC2

• Experience with highly scalable, high throughput web applications, API services and backend systems

• Experience with Event Driven Architecture and messaging services, such as AWS SQS, Rabbit MQ, Pulsar or Solace.

• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IAC) development, such as Ansible, Terraform

Desirable Requirements

• 14+ years experience in software development

• 3+ years experience in technical leadership

• Experience in Integration, iPaas, SAS based products

• Experience with Java development

• Experience using Linux/Unix environments

• AWS Developer or Architect certification

• Experience with SQL, relational databases and ORM tools like Hibernate

• Experience with SpringBoot

• Experience with observability and monitoring tools such as CloudWatch, Splunk, New Relic.
