Follett Content Solutions is looking for an experienced Director of SIOP to deliver the strategic objectives of the company through a best-in-class SIOP process. This individual will be empowered to establish and execute the business rhythm, governance & operational excellence for SIOP including leadership and oversight of the company’s end-to-end booking to shipment cycle as well as leading sales, inventory and operations planning process. The Director of SIOP will develop, own and monitor the processes, define and analyze business rules, be a key driver in the decision-making process and ensure system integrity required to optimize throughput.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and drive a best-in-class strategy, vision and implementation of SIOP
  • Facilitate annual and ongoing demand planning discussions translating demand to operational and supply chain requirements. Effectively balance supply and demand to achieve targeted inventory, asset utilization and customer service levels.
  • Facilitate annual and ongoing operational capacity planning to identify and maximize production and warehouse labor capacity requirements and risks
  • Deliver an annual balanced demand, supply, production & warehouse labor plan leveraging statistical analysis and business intelligence. This includes strategic and tactical decision-making balancing customer experience, operational and financial objectives, aligning volume and mix with capacity and capability and integrating financial and operating plans with strategic objectives to deliver improved throughput and efficiency. Periodically update plan including identification and execution of required remediation tactics
  • Establish common metrics, data definitions and business processes to keep pace with business priorities, internal and external benchmarking, optimal cycle time and working capital
  • Define and set clear and challenging annual/monthly KPIs for SIOP functional areas aligned with company goals and objectives
  • Develop “dashboard” reporting to monitor SIOP effectiveness including critical end-to-end KPIs; Implement corrective actions to meet targeted KPIs
  • Lead periodic Executive SIOP meetings to resolve throughput issues including the implementation of remediation tactics
  • Champion step-change improvements in the current SIOP process, including product level analysis and average unit price, inventory lead time, backlog management, production & labor capacity and contingency planning. Work with IT to implement best in class processes
  • Develop and implement effective re-engineered and automated SIOP processes to replace current manual processes; Stay current on new processes, methodologies and systems as potential improvements and modernizations to the current process.
  • Train and coach stakeholders to ensure clear expectations of roles and responsibilities; Ensure that each functional group aligns to SIOP procedures and drive cross functional accountability
  • Eliminate silos between functions
  • Document and maintain procedures and processes to ensure cross-functional operational continuity as well as system and data integrity

Experience & Skills

  • Proven knowledge and expertise on SIOP including successful development and execution
  • Thorough understanding of Supply Chain principles and Distribution Requirements Planning (DRP) as well as strength in inventory analysis and planning
  • Leadership in Operations (Inventory, Production, Supply Chain, etc.) with a track record of creating KPI’s and leading process breakthrough and continuous improvement
  • Strong decision making leveraging an understanding of business models, strategic goals, relevant policies and best practices
  • Demonstrated analytical, statistical and data analytics experience
  • Sense of urgency to getting things done, making tough decisions and drive for simplification, innovation and growth
  • Motivated, self-driven, inquisitive and positive approach to problem solving and change management
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills with a broad range of influence and negotiation skills
  • Experience developing team members to the next level of capability
  • Ability to set clear expectations and commit to the delivery of results holding others accountable for their commitments
  • Strong computer system skills, especially in Inventory and warehouse labor Planning/ERP systems and MS Office suite (Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint)

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in Supply Chain or related fields to include previous or current direct management of SIOP processes, 5+ Years with management responsibility
  • Experience in manufacturing or specialty distribution in both Made to Order (MTO) and Make to Stock (MTS) environments
  • Degree in a relevant discipline such as Supply Chain, Business or Engineering; MBA or Masters Degree a plus
  • CI and Six Sigma to experience a plus
  • ASCM S&OP certificate or CPIM certification a plus
  • Previous MRP, planning and financial system experience
  • Takes pride in achieving the highest standards and results; never settle for good enough
  • Demonstrated implementation of process, urgency and outcome driven culture in similar environment
  • Experience in motivating and accomplishing work through others in a matrix environment
