Engineering Manager, Entity Ingest and Synthesis
New Relic
Your opportunity
We are looking for an experienced Engineering Manager with an eagerness for technology, people, projects, data, and processes. Hardworking leaders with depth and breadth of technology experience who can encourage the team and guide it towards success.
At New Relic, we love making software that improves the lives of people who make software. Our products help customers answer their most meaningful questions by allowing them to visualize, explore, and understand their ops, applications, and customer data.
You will lead a foundational team at the heart of this mission. Your team builds the "digital brain" of our platform—the high-throughput systems that transform billions of disconnected telemetry events into an interconnected knowledge graph of our customers' digital estates. This graph is what allows our customers to move from seeing data to understanding their entire system, and it is a critical component for observability in the future.
If you have a strong technical background, great mentoring skills, and a track record of collaborating with multiple teams to ship great software, we would like to hear from you.
What you'll do
- Lead and grow a team responsible for the design, development, and maintenance of New Relic's foundational entity platform.
- Coach and mentor a committed group of seasoned engineers so that they can develop further their personal and professional abilities and be engaged and motivated.
- Contribute to the technical roadmap and drive significant platform modernization efforts.
- Ensure the operational health and reliability of critical, large-scale data processing services that are foundational to the New Relic experience.
- Drive technology decision-making, process efficiency, and engineering excellence within your team.
- Foster engineering excellence and improve developer productivity across New Relic by delivering powerful, self-service APIs and tools for your platform.
- Collaborate with multi-functional teams across product, engineering, and architecture to align on strategy and deliver on shared goals.
- Drive the recruitment, training, and development of top-tier talent in the region.
This role requires
- 3+ years of experience leading engineering teams.
- Strong experience in Software Engineering and a proven track record of leading and scaling strong technical teams.
- Strong experience with large-scale distributed systems, particularly high-throughput data processing and event streaming architectures (e.g., Kafka).
- Experience leading or playing a key role in complex architectural migrations and modernizing legacy systems.
- Experience in handling incidents, diving deep, and understanding the technical implications and risks of a decision.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Hands-on experience with Java or other modern programming languages.
- A history of getting things done in a distributed, large-scale, and fast-growing environment.
Please note that visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
