Your opportunity
New Relic is looking for a Senior Manager to lead our QA Engineering / SaaS Testing Frameworks team. The team is responsible for validating the quality, performance, and stability of our software with a specific focus on enterprise SaaS systems. Our core platforms include Salesforce, Zuora, Billing Platform, Netsuite, and the Boomi integrations between these systems.
This role demands an individual with a strong technical orientation and a proven track record in driving quality assurance efforts from strategy to execution. You will be instrumental in defining, implementing, and optimizing QA processes to scale testing efforts across the organization and ensuring a quality first approach throughout the development lifecycle. As a senior manager, you will play a key role in shaping the future of quality engineering, tackling complex quality challenges in a fast-paced environment.
What you'll do
- Lead and mentor a team of QA engineers, ensuring high-quality work, continuous improvement, and instilling a shift left mindset. This includes setting team goals, coaching team members, and conducting continuous performance evaluations.
- Architect and lead the implementation of comprehensive product quality strategies for enterprise SaaS systems, ensuring product integrity before launch.
- Drive the software quality assurance lifecycle for Salesforce, Zuora, and Billing Platform including their complex integrations.
- Design, develop, and maintain advanced test frameworks and methodologies for mission-critical systems, with a focus on building and managing automation.
- Oversee the execution of software verification activities, including defining test strategies, test plans, and test cases.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including technology and business stakeholders to understand business processes and testing needs, ensuring comprehensive QA coverage.
- Define, implement, and optimize QA processes to scale testing efforts across the organization, establishing and championing quality metrics that measure test effectiveness, efficiency, and overall product quality.
- Manage competing priorities effectively and consistently drive the team to deliver desired outcomes within tight timelines.
- Communicate status in an understandable way to a wide range of audiences and provide strategic feedback on quality issues.
- Provide hands-on technical leadership to the team, including manual testing and automated test writing as required.
This role requires
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in quality engineering and/or test engineering, with a focus on large-scale systems and enterprise SaaS applications. This includes at least 3-5 years in a QA management or technical project leadership capacity.
- Flexibility in schedule and the ability to work with remote teams and stakeholders across multiple time zones, such as the US, India, and Spain.
- Extensive experience with industry-standard test automation tools and frameworks.
- Proven track record in architecting and executing complex test strategies and frameworks.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum development environments.
- Familiarity with JIRA and XRay or equivalent test management tools.
- Strong knowledge of Opportunity to Cash business processes specifically related to Contracts, Orders, and Billing.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the capacity to engage technical and non-technical stakeholders at all organizational levels.
Bonus points if you have
- Familiarity with Salesforce development tools such as Lightning Web Components and CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience using Jenkins to run Playwright scripts (or similar tools).
