Your opportunity
The Lead Product Designer will play a meaningful role in designing the experience to enable engineers to handle their data, ingest, query, alert on, and analyze that application and infrastructure telemetry data. You’ll create visualizations, workflows, interactions, and more. You will also be responsible for the experience of a large product domain in one of the largest groups at New Relic, working closely with product managers, engineers and other UX team members. You'll play an instrumental role in creating the way that developers and admins experience New Relic One. You will be a vital part of a global design community, joining at a formative stage in the team's next level of growth. What you'll do
- Lead the Design Vision: Champion and drive the product design vision by concepting and specifying user flows, interfaces, interactions, and overall experiences. You’ll deliver these through high-fidelity mockups, diagrams, and functional prototypes.
- Collaborate and Deliver: Work closely with product managers, engineers, and other UX team members to assess user needs, generate concepts, and deliver high-quality experiences. You'll ensure designs are executed flawlessly through close collaboration and communication.
- Conduct User Research and Analysis: Lead user research efforts and leverage analytics to understand developer needs. You'll use these insights to inform design decisions, ensuring that as observability data grows, the user experience remains efficient and developer-centric. This includes creating solutions for both web and enterprise mobile applications.
- Apply Design Thinking: Use a robust design thinking approach to tackle complex technical challenges, balancing big-picture strategy with meticulous attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
- Uphold and Evolve Design Standards: Champion and support principled design standards, contributing to and utilizing an evolving design system to ensure consistency and scalability.
- Mentor and Contribute: Be a strong contributor to our global design community. You will set high standards, drive best practices, and help the team grow to its next level.
This role requires
- Experience: 7+ years of related experience in enterprise software, enterprise mobile application design, developer tools, or SaaS B2B products.
- Design Tools: High proficiency with modern design tools like Figma, Sketch, Abstract, or InVision.
- User Research: Proven ability to execute user research and leverage a test and learn how to measure and refine designs based on user and data.
- Collaboration: Experience working in an agile, fast-paced environment and collaborating effectively with globally distributed teams across different time zones.
- Communication:Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills. You must be able to clearly articulate your design decisions and rationale to a variety of stakeholders and leadership team.
- Portfolio: A portfolio that showcases your best work and demonstrates a strong understanding of design process and outcomes.
