Your Opportunity
Our Product Analytics team is looking for a Senior Analyst to champion data governance, help us uncover deep insights into our customer and user engagement across the product portfolio, and deliver relevant and measurable intelligence to Product leadership. Our goal is maturing the analytic capabilities of our product organization, and realizing what is possible with the incredible amount of business, user, and customer data New Relic generates.
Who You are
You’re a self-starter who’s able to work in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment. Proven attention to detail and an extensive eye for business will allow you to work efficiently with business partners across Marketing and Sales, Product and Engineering to build business narratives and metrics for success. Additionally, you will define and test hypotheses, and deliver practical insights through data visualizations. You will succeed by having an eye on the big picture and being able to challenge the status quo. Ask the hard questions to ensure investment of time and resources is warranted.
What You’ll Do
- Establish and advocate for data governance best practices, ensuring telemetry data is standardized, documented, and reliable across the product suite
- Conduct in-depth data analysis to identify trends, patterns, user behaviors and corresponding business impact to inform product development decisions
- Develop and maintain a balanced set of KPIs and performance metrics that assess the success of product initiatives, including product adoption, revenue impact, user and customer retention
- Utilize various data analysis tools and methodologies to extract actionable insights from large datasets, covering both product usage and financial data
- Create and present data-driven reports and presentations to stakeholders, demonstrating how product improvements positively impact the bottom line
- Act as a data steward by maintaining data dictionaries and ensuring a "single source of truth" for core product metrics
- Stay current with best practices in data analysis and data governance to make well-informed data-driven recommendations
Your Qualifications
Must-have:
- Bachelor's degree in quantitative field (Business, Economics, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering or related field) and 6 years experience, with at least 2 years in Product Analytics
- Advanced proficiency in SQL and Python, and in building scalable reporting in tools like Tableau or Looker
- Proven experience in data governance, including defining data standards, improving data quality, and managing metadata
- Proven ability to independently lead end-to-end analytics (building pipelines, data modeling, generating and synthesizing insights)
- Demonstrated history distilling complex findings into precise, actionable insights for executive leadership
- Experience leveraging AI-assisted workflows (e.g., GitHub Copilot, LLMs) to accelerate code development, automate documentation, or enhance data exploration
- Practical experience applying statistical methods (such as regression, classification, or time-series analysis) to solve real-world business problems and validate product hypotheses
Nice-to-have:
- Hands-on experience with OpenMetadata or similar data discovery and cataloging platforms
- Experience working within Agile/Scrum methodologies to manage analytics backlogs and deliver value
- Prior experience collaborating with engineering to deploy and monitor data science models (e.g., churn prediction or propensity models) for sustained business impact
- Familiarity with the observability space or experience using the New Relic platform to analyze telemetry data
