Your opportunity
New Relic is hiring a security engineer to join our Information Security Team! Join the Infrastructure Assurance team within New Relic’s Information Security organization, where you will play a critical role in safeguarding the global infrastructure–including servers, networks, workstations, and cloud environments–that serves as the foundation for all New Relic products and services.
This is a hands-on opportunity where you will focus on proactive security controls, performing pragmatic threat assessments, and scaling our foundational security posture. This involves close collaboration with various teams across New Relic to help them understand and appropriately prioritize security work. The New Relic information security organization that values building strong relationships with those teams as a more effective approach to security than simply dictating policies. We value your character and practical experience over certifications. While a deep background in security is helpful, it is not a prerequisite. We are looking for candidates who can clearly demonstrate multi-cloud systems management, architectural design, and automation skills, and who are eager to embed security as an integral component of the value New Relic provides to its customers.
What you'll do
- Deliver security requirements to IT and product engineering teams for securing their critical infrastructure and systems.
- Execute and maintain critical security assurance runbooks and decision matrices, with a key focus on full documentation and improving clarity.
- Collaborate on multi-functional work streams and projects with IT, Compliance, and Product Legal & Privacy teams.
- Drive improvement in partner team engagements by documenting collaboration processes for critical cross-functional review types.
- Manage assigned security reviews to achieve an efficient end-to-end cycle time that adheres to the lifecycle of each review type.
This role requires
Must-have:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical education and experience.
- 2+ years of cloud or IT infrastructure engineering experience.
- 1+ years of experience in a security-focused role within cloud or IT engineering
- Proven familiarity with AWS (or other cloud provider) foundational security principles
- Working knowledge of security fundamentals for for corporate software-as-a-service and identity systems
- Basic comprehension of modern DevOps practices and techniques
- Basic understanding of risk management.
- Strong communication habits with a proven ability to provide timely updates and effective escalations
- Demonstrated ability to produce clear and professional technical documentation
Bonus points if you have
- 1+ years working with modern container technologies, with Kubernetes in particular
- Experience supply risk-based security guidance to system owners and stakeholders
- Hands-on knowledge of securing systems within an additional cloud provider (such as Google or Azure)
- Experience implementing controls within a major identity provider (Okta or Azure Entra)
- Familiarity mobile device management (MDM) platforms such as Jamf or Intune
- Experience managing and securing workplace collaboration systems such as Salesforce, Google Workspace, or Exchange
- Prior experience supporting IT system audit frameworks such as SOC 2, ISO 27001, or FedRAMP
