About The Role

This is a key support role which provides general and administrative support to all business leaders and staff (~80) of the multiple business units which make up the entity Verifone Africa situated across our two permanent locations in South Africa – Bryanston and Honeydew, with the overall objective of ensuring effective coordination and execution of critical administrative and support processes.

In addition to these general responsibilities, and as a result of the statutory requirements we have as Verifone Africa (Pty) Limited, the role is also critical for ensuring compliance with our corporate governance requirements, ensuring effective local Board operations and statutory committee management (Board, Social & Ethics Committee, Equity Employment Committee and OHS) as well as acting as the training coordinator under our local BBBEE regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

Board Administration

  • Schedule and coordinate quarterly Board meetings.
  • Prepare and distribute meeting agendas.
  • Take and draft accurate minutes, ensuring timely circulation to all Board members.
  • Compile and maintain comprehensive Board packs ahead of meetings.

Social and Ethics Committee (SEC)

  • Coordinate and schedule quarterly SEC meetings in line with statutory requirements.
  • Take minutes, prepare and distribute SEC packs, and ensure records are kept for compliance.
  • Facilitate communication between committee members (2 Board members, HR Manager, and Finance Manager).
  • Report outcomes and recommendations to the Board.

Equity Employment Committee (EEC)

  • New requirement under SA Labour legislation

BBBEE Skills Development Coordination

  • Support the company’s BBBEE compliance by maximizing points in Skills Development.
  • Supporting Management on the annual training budget allocation of 6% of payroll (~ZAR 3.8 million).
  • Coordinate between managers, employees, accredited training providers, and the Finance Manager.
  • Source accredited training, obtain quotations, secure approvals, and schedule training sessions.
  • Track and report on training spend and participation to ensure compliance with BBBEE requirements.

General Administrative & Business Support

  • Provide day-to-day administrative support to the General Manager, Sales, Finance, Logistics and Engineering teams.
  • Organize internal and external meetings and support HR with company events.
  • Manage documentation, and communication to support smooth business operations.
  • Undertake ad hoc administrative tasks across all business areas to ensure operational efficiency.

Skills and Experience You'll Need

  • Strong organizational and coordination skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Attention to detail with the ability to prepare accurate documentation.
  • Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and priorities.
  • Understanding of BBBEE compliance requirements (advantageous).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Proven experience in a similar role is desirable
