About The Role

We are seeking an experienced professional from the Payments and Financial Services industry to join our Scheme Compliance team as a Scheme Compliance Officer.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in scheme compliance and governance, with the ability to provide strategic oversight and contribute to the continued development of Verifone’s compliance framework. This role requires a proactive individual who is committed to supporting Verifone’s strategic goals and maintaining our high standards of integrity and compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance with Card Scheme regulations as well as building a robust card scheme management framework
  • Be the point of contact for Card schemes and internal Verifone stakeholders.
  • Provide advice to the company on relevant Card Scheme items.
  • Implement a card scheme knowledge center that is proactive tackling card scheme changes and updates.

Primary deliverables with the card scheme team are:

  • Awareness of the Card Schemes regulations, including fees and other charges.
  • Monitor and take actions related to the implementation of important industry changes and card scheme compliance requirements.
  • Communicate with merchants and partners in relation to risk and compliance investigations; prepare internal analysis of the case.
  • Perform registrations of merchants with the card schemes and related services.
  • Makes key individual contributions to the team’s work products when needed to ensure quality requirements and/or required delivery timelines are met.
  • Manage merchant risks related to the Card Schemes.
  • Participate in the development, implementation and update of risk management processes and procedures.
  • Take timely actions to prevent financial loss.
  • Work to develop and maintain internal knowledge base related to card scheme compliance requirements.
  • Understanding of Visa and Mastercard payment processing, including compliance requirements, operational framework, and regulatory obligations, is essential.
  • Industry Trends & Advocacy - Responsibilities could include monitoring industry trends and advising leadership on regulatory changes.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration - Clarify coordination with legal, finance, product, engineering and risk management teams.

Skills and Experience You'll Need

  • 5+ years of experience in financial services or payments, with strong exposure to card scheme regulations, product management, and relationship management.
  • Demonstrated expertise in payment services and acquiring operations.
  • Proven ability in governance, strategic oversight, and regulatory compliance.
  • In-depth knowledge of financial sector laws and regulations relevant to card scheme compliance.
  • Highly analytical with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Skilled at prioritizing and meeting deadlines while maintaining the highest standards of quality.
  • Proactive, independent, and collaborative, with the flexibility to adapt to changing priorities.
  • Strong leadership, negotiation, and stakeholder management capabilities, including effective crisis response and resolution.
