Principal Snowflake Engineer

The Opportunity:

In this role, you'll take ownership of key technical aspects of our Data Lake (Snowflake) product, shaping best practices across multiple teams. As a principal engineer, you'll lead the design and delivery of major software components, balancing proactive improvements with maintaining the status quo. You'll mentor team members, drive technical decisions, and collaborate with engineering and product managers to deliver value for clients while addressing technical escalations to ensure smooth delivery.

Our Stack:

In this role, you will utilize a combination of Snowflake, SQL, Python, and some C# in your day to day. We do not require experience with all of these, but Snowflake is highly preferred.

A Closer Look at the Role:

This role will provide opportunities to get your hands on various tasks/technologies such as:

• Design and implement scalable, high-performance data storage solutions using Snowflake.
• Write, optimize, and troubleshoot complex SQL queries within the Snowflake environment.
• Take full ownership of the design and delivery of critical software components from start to finish.
• Influence the architecture and evolution of the codebase for long-term maintainability and efficiency.
• Contribute to the development and prioritization of the product roadmap.
• Create innovative, future-proof solutions that meet both current and upcoming business needs.
• Continuously propose and drive improvements in the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
• Proactively assess and communicate risks for upcoming development efforts.
• Mentor and guide individual contributors both within and outside your functional area.
• Collaborate with Product teams to break down complex problems into clear, actionable technical requirements.

Skills/Experience Needed:

• Background in Computer Science, with a degree or proven industry experience.
• Experience in conveying technical solutions to less-experienced engineers.
• Strong problem-solving ability with a knack for breaking down complex issues into manageable tasks.
• Inquisitive mindset and a passion for continuous learning.
• Capable of working autonomously while providing mentorship to others.
• Proven experience in driving significant projects from design to delivery.
• Track record of successful data migration and optimization within Snowflake.
• Proficient in SQL and experienced with data processing tools (especially DBT).
• Hands-on experience with Snowflake features, including Time Travel, Snowpipes, and Warehouse/Query optimization.
• Strong understanding of data compliance, security, and industry best practices.
